When I saw a photo of Gigi sitting on the beach in the Philippines, I loved the wide open expanse of blue sky, clouds skidding across and a young girl just taking it all in. Her towel and thongs thrown behind her, not a care in the world. That was what I wanted to capture in this painting. You can almost feel the sun on your skin, the warm breeze and smell the fresh salty air.
